Title: How many exercises, sets, reps do you do per gym session?
Post by: alex on March 30, 2020, 11:29:38 PM
I generally aim for 2-3 exercises for large muscles and 1-2 exercises for small muscles for 3-5 sets x 8-12 reps. What about you guys? Fewer sets or more sets? Higher reps or less? lots of exercises per muscle group or only 1-2 exercises? Explain why you workout the way you do.

Usually 4-6 exercises per body part (bro split) and 1-2 working sets per exercise. I like to gradually pyramid up in weight leaving a few reps in the tank and extend last set with rest/pause technique and dropset/forced reps.

Right now I'm trying something different...I'll pick one exercise per body part and do 100 reps. I'll choose a weight that usually allows me about 20-25 reps before failure. Rest a bit then continue where I left off...21 or 26 or whatever until I get to 100. Only doing it for a bit but I'm sore as shit right now. Plus it saves alot of time from not having to switch exercises.

Right now Iím doing quite a few supersets and higher reps. Still need some more weight to lift heavy at home. Kinda like the change. Also trying to keep muscles under tension more with bands. Been pretty sore a few times and love that feeling.

It has definitely changed for me over the years. Lots of band work, stretching and bike riding now compared to lifting heavy in the past. Of course this will probably shift once we are allowed back into gyms on a full time basis.
